Marriott involved in one of history’s largest data breaches

Millions of former Marriott International guests are demanding compensation in a London class action against the hotel chain after more than 300 million customer records, including passport and credit card details, were hacked between 2014 and 2018.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for loss of control over personal information and data, and includes guests whose reservations fall before 10 September 2018.

The UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), which intended to fine Marriott £99.2m in 2019, suggests that approximately seven million UK guest records were exposed as a result of the hack.
